Y&R Singapore win Singapore Navy account ending Saatchi & Saatchi’s 28 year reign
Arguably Singapore’s most sought after creative account has created waves by ending its 28 year long relationship with Saatchi & Saatchi and appointing Young & Rubicam Singapore after an intensive creative shootout.
The long and legendary tenure between the Republic of Singapore Navy and its incumbent didn’t deter the large number of agencies who threw their hats in the ring when the statutory pitch was called in December 2009. Following a closely fought first round, the contenders were shortlisted to the incumbent, Dentsu and Young & Rubicam Singapore.
“This prestigious win, led by Anthony Khoo (Chief Client Officer) andMark Fong (Creative Director), is a loud and clear validation thatY&R Singapore’s Resist the Usual philosophy has been gainingtraction with current and new clients such as the Republic of SingaporeNavy. We will deploy the full extent of our strategic and creativeofferings, including activation and digital, to make a great brand evengreater”, said Tanuj Philip, Group CEO, Network Hub.
The appointment of Young & Rubicam Singapore covers both brand and recruitment briefs.
“Formore than 25 years, agencies in Singapore have been trying to win thisaccount because of the client’s high regard for great award winningcreativity. It says a lot to us that the Republic of Singapore Navybelieves they have found the right new creative partnership with Young & Rubicam Singapore,” added Marcus Rebeschini, Chief Creative OfficerAsia, who was closely involved in the win of this highly covetedaccount.
It’s the second big account win for Young & Rubicam out of Saatchi & Saatchi, with the agency winning the Tiger Beer account just a little over a month ago.

Big win for Y&R. Saatchi have this for such a time and big award winner. Sad blow for Saatchi they have done great work previously.
Congratulations Mark and team at Y&R
Yes sad blow for Saatchi. The agency has no creative talent or account servicing left so clients will not stay.
10.42 – Don’t turn this into comments about Saatchi and their problems. Y&R beat them to the best creative account here so good luck to them and I look forward to seeing the new work. Y&R, the pressure is on.
Another massive win for Y&R. Things have definatly changed there in the last couple of months. Good on them I say.
Congrats Y&R – you’re kicking arse.
When’s the story going to come out about the crumbling of Saatchi Singapore? Everyone’s leaving – clients and staff.
Tiger and now Navy. Very good for Y&R and some very nice people that work there. Congratulations.
Jeez. It looks like Richie and Adrian Miller made good career moves.
Saatchi need to return to being printasaurus. Their current non creative direction is not working.
I”m surprised that management didn’t go out with the Navy account. They’ve lost many millions worth of business already for Saatchi’s. I heard the Navy couldn’t stand them either. What a track record.
that’s a good DM, who’re the creatives?
Marcus is really making changes to the office! Kudos!
Congratulations to Marcus & Mark, it’s a massive win!
Congrats YR and bye-bye Saatchi.
