Walker to replace Mun at BBDO/Proximity KL
Richmond Walker is set to join BBDO/Proximity Malaysia as its executive creative director. Walker will succeed Mun Tuck Wai, who resigned recently to pursue a career overseas.
BBDO/Proximity Malaysia Group Chief Executive Jennifer Chan said the agency appointed Walker after combing the market for an experienced candidate who is primed to take on the agency’s creative helm.
“We are thrilled to have Richmond on board. Without a doubt, I believe he is the ideal creative leader for Malaysia’s No. 1 creative agency,” Chan said. “Moving forward, his international experience will certainly give not only the agency, but its clients, an edge. I am sure Richmond will contribute greatly to your business.”
BBDO/Proximity Malaysia is currently one of Asia’s most awarded agencies, ranking No3 overall in the Campaign Brief Asia Creative Rankings.
Walker was formerly Creative Director of Ogilvy & Mather Malaysia. Before falling into the advertising business Richmond was a theatre and radio actor in London’s West End. His first taste of advertising came as account handler for M&C Saatchi, and D’Arcy. In search of adventure, and a taste of life beyond London, he moved to South East Asia six years ago. Since joining Ogilvy, initially in Vietnam, and more recently in Malaysia, Walker’s rise has been meteoric. On the back of strong client relationships, he has forged a reputation for delivering ground breaking work for some the world’s biggest clients, including Coca Cola, Unilever and Nestlé.
An award-winning creative, Walker has won several International and local awards for major brands including Panadol and Milo. In his most recent role, Richmond has been creative lead for Nestlé’s Milo Brand, and for all disciplines across the Maxis account.
“I’m joining BBDO with a remit to maintain a reputation for creative excellence, and to continue a career building great brands,” Walker said.

Good luck replacing Mun.
A nice guy. Gave me nothing but help when I approached him about doing a stint in VN. Best of luck.

Anyone can win awards (especially in Asia) but there are very few creatives who can win big business, service and retain it. Richie is an adult who understands that advertising is a business. He is an excellent choice and BBDO are very lucky to have hired him.
3 Yellow Pencil he must win!
