Leo Burnett Malaysia launch new Deepavali ‘Pursuit of Perfection’ commercial for Petronas
Petronas has payed tribute to the significance of the diverse yet meaningful festivals in Malaysia with its 2011 Deepavali television commercial.
Entitled Pursuit of Perfection, the 60-second TVC depicts a family doing what it takes in the preparation of a hearty Deepavali meal. Each careful gesture and considered action – from sourcing the ingredients, choosing the spices to cooking the meal – is a reflection of the inner good, dedication and resilience in producing something wonderful to be shared with loved ones on a special occasion.
The story illustrates what it takes to make life better through the dedication, effort and choices that one makes, ultimately making one a better human being.
Petronas also infuses the TVC with elements of its new corporate positioning of Reimagining Energy which represents the spirit, passion and determination in the pursuit of its vision. Reimagining Energy also embodies the corporation’s steely courage to blaze new trails, embracing changes and challenges through its most important asset, its people.
“In life, we are all faced with difficult challenges. But in all of us, there is the inner light and potential for good. Through this commercial, we hope to show that it is the inner light that helps us overcome challenges to progress in everything that we do in life,” said Dato Mohammad Medan Abdullah, Senior General Manager, Group Corporate Affairs Division of Petronas.
“This embodies the spirit of Reimagining Energy – overcoming our own challenges through this inner light and empowering others to overcome their own through the light that shines through in all of us,” he said.
Although simple, the Deepavali TVC’s storyline conveys a far deeper meaning to the audience that this festival of lights is also about maintaining a positive outlook on life.
“By recognising the light within yourselves, you will amplify your strengths to succeed in creating a better life for you and your loved ones,” Dato Medan said.
