Young creative hopefuls invited to join Portfolio Night 11 hosted by Ogilvy & Mather China
Ihaveanidea’s Portfolio Night and Ogilvy & Mather China have announced the start of the official recruitment for young creative talents to participate in the world’s largest simultaneous advertising portfolio review. Taking place in 24 cities around the world on May 22, 2013, Portfolio Night 11 will feature hundreds of top creative directors who will meet with thousands of aspiring creative hopefuls in one night to offer professional guidance, network and recruit.
Every candidate who attends will receive 45 minutes of undivided attention with top creatives from a number of the world’s best agencies. Paid internships and potential job opportunities will be offered to candidates who demonstrate the most impressive portfolios.
In addition, for the first time this year, each city will also nominate their best creative candidate and fly him or her to New York in August to participate in the Portfolio Night All-Stars competition. The 24 candidates will compete against each other for the All-Stars title in a week-long creative challenge and work on a real client brief, while being mentored and coached by members of the Arts Directors Club community.
“Every day, we get exposed to more than 3,000 messages. A message can be creatively presented in any way, but the key element for good work is uniqueness and its ability to cut through the clutter,” said Graham Fink, O&M China Chief Creative Officer. “This year we’re dedicated to once again connecting with fresh, local talent to offer tips on creating outstanding work that resonates.”
Shenan Chuang, O&M Greater China CEO, said, “Nurturing homegrown talent has become a mission for us at O&M China, especially as the creative industries are a fast-growing area of China’s economy and will increasingly provide big opportunities for local talent.”
Cost to participate in the Beijing and Shanghai events is RMB 75 (USD 12). All aspiring creatives or juniors with an advertising portfolio can register and pay online before the May 19 deadline. Space is limited, so act fast. Tickets will be allotted on a first come, first served basis.
This year marks the fourth time in five years that O&M will be partnering as the host agency in China.

Why are we making students pay for this?
So they can get an internship and work for free for 6 months?
No wonder the industry is jaded.
Love this idea
The creative honchos will see all the best work.
Select the most award ready pieces.
Preferably with a logo of a client which they already have.
The pretty ones will have extra long one-on-interviews.
And believe that they will call in the morning.
The talented ones will accept slave wages.
And the better internships will be reserved for the children/girlfriend/ of a senior client.
Enjoy the circus folks.
