James Chen hired to lead DDB Guoan in Beijing
James Chen has been appointed as vice president and managing director of DDB Guoan based in Beijing, Chen will report to Richard Tan, president and CEO of DDB Group North China.
“James is a rare hybrid of a “hunter” and a “farmer”, essential in a market like Beijing where there is an abundance of business opportunities, as well as a strong need to cultivate, harness and build strong relationships”, said Tan.
“We set our sights at the highest level when looking to fill this role – a very high calibre with a proven track record, combined with many years of broad experience in China. DDB Guoan is undoubtedly a leading global agency network and has seen steady growth momentum. I know James is the right person to continue to grow our agency presence and influence in the capital,” added Tan.
Prior to joining DDB, Chen was vice president of Havas Worldwide Greater China. With more than 23 years experience in the communications industry including 17 years in Beijing, Chen has worked with global agencies Euro RSCG and McCann Erickson; as well as China’s largest Public Relations agency in China, Shunya Communications Group. His experience in China crosses many industries and several of the world’s leading brands including Peugeot, Cisco, Yili Milk, Volvo, Deutsche Bank Microsoft and Intel.
