Cheil OpenTide launches new “know it all” mobile travel app for Chinese tourists in Korea
Influenced by the prevailing Korean hallyu wave, a growing number of Chinese visitors are travelling to Seoul, South Korea. With regards to such growth, the city of Seoul is paying more attention to these potential travellers. However, at present, there are insufficient mobile platforms designed for this target group. According to a recent survey, more than 70% of Chinese visitors use the subway when travelling in Korea and the somewhat complicated Seoul subway lines can often be difficult to figure out due to language barrier.
Cheil China have introduced “know it all” a local Seoul subway mobile APP for independent Chinese travelers.
City landmarks, restaurants, museums, and shopping are all essential activities for tourists. Therefore, apart from comprehensive subway information, the subway app also provides practical tips and maps of nearby tourist attractions, restaurants, shopping malls. Taking this one step further, the mobile app cooperates with 26 Korean lifestyle brands such as Shilla Duty Free Shop, Everland Amusement Park to offer users special e-coupons to be used at their retail outlets or venues. The aim for this app is to allow travelers to be able to have their travel experience enhanced according to location based tactics.
After three months of launching this new mobile app, there have been approximately 50,000 downloads of the map app and 20,000 downloads for the e-coupons. These e-coupons are an effective channel to draw in travelers to these venues and events, while also attracting local lifestyle brands to participate in the mobile app program to promote their services or products.
