Malaysia leads the finalist tally at One Show
The final shortlist for The One Show has been announced and Malaysia leads the region with a total of 23 finalists. The One Show pencils will be revealed Wednesday night in New York but it must be assumed that both Saatchi & Saatchi and BBDO/Proximity Malaysia perform very well. Saatchi Malaysia has 14 Finalists and BBDO/Proximity has 5.
Thailand is the next best performing Asian country with 20 shortlists. Singapore is third with 17.
Next best are India (12), China (5) Japan (2) and Hong Kong, Indonesia, Korea and The Philippines with 1 each.
BBDO Bangkok was the best performing Thai agency with 6 shortlists, closely followed by Leo Burnett with 5 and O&M and Saatchi & Saatchi with 3 each.
Saatchi & Saatchi Singapore headed their traditional rivals O&M with 8 shortlists. O&M had 6.

Malaysia just got lucky this year. Couple of good print ads.
Singapore is in a bit of a minor slump but can kick Malaysia’s ass on any normal day.

Not only is the above comment stupid. It’s bitter and unequivocally false. And please define “a normal day”?
I actually agree with 4.33.
Malaysia’s efforts at awards shows this year is down to two agencies. I’m not in any way having a go at BBDO’s Jeep campaign but take that away and then the agency is back in with the others. Saatchi has a few more campaigns that have done well.
What I think 4.33 is referring to is Singapore has much more depth in creativity. We don’t just rely on two or three campaigns to carry us through.
Thailand has even more depth.
4:33 & 9:50 – You are being a bit harsh on Leo Burnett Malaysia who have had a stunning year with Petronas “Tan Hong Ming”.
Tan Hong Ming and the other ads in the long running Petronas Campaign have so impressed the prime minister of singapore, he personally directed his ministry to ask Yasmin Ahmad to script and direct the family tv ads that are running in Singapore. That is pretty high marks for Malaysia right there.
Ahhh, but where would you rather work?!?
