An Indoor Peek at Outdoor Judging (Day 4)

Vic Ng.jpgVictorNg did such a great job with his daily reports from the Clio Awardsjudging this year that we cheekily couldn’t resist asking him again inCannes. Victor, Euro RSCG Singapore’s Executive Creative Director is sitting on theOutdoor Lions jury and this is his DAY TWO report.

Members of the jury, have you reached a verdict?

Yes, after two hours of stalemate, we have an Outdoor Grand Prix.

We wanted to be sure of the signal we are sending with our choice. It’s not just the best ad, but it’s also the one ad that best represents how the category is evolving.

The last few years have seen truly integrated ideas like Earth Hour andTap Project politely knock on the doors of other more traditionalcategories. This could well be the year they emphatically break downthe walls between categories.

With our final Outdoor Grand Prix contenders, there were moments Ithought I was judging integrated/innovative categories at Clio andD&AD again.

Controversial Cannes Prediction: Someday, one world-changing idea willwin the Grand Prix of Titanium, Outdoor, Direct, Promo, Media and PRcategories.

Heck it might even happen in the next few days. With the likes of Droga 5 out there, it’s not controversial – it’s confirmed.

That will also mean having just one jury room worth sneaking into.
