AdFest’s Fabulous Four directors

This year’s Fabulous Four directors to showcase their work at AdFest in March have been selected. The 2010 Fabulous Four are:

Pipat Siriruangsakul, Assistant Director at The Bandits, Bangkok

Rahul Md. Alindib Akbar, www.alindib.com, Director, Dhaka

Yas Shimizu, Production Manager/Assistant Director, Camp KAZ Productions, Tokyo

Ant McPhail, Director, Luscious International, Sydney

 

Every year, AdFest invites young directors, who have not directed more than 6 films in their film careers, from around the region to create a short film script based on a specific theme. This year’s theme is ‘REFRESH’, which is also the theme of AdFest 2010, which takes places in Thailand on 18-20 March.

In total, 32 directors from around the Asia Pacific submitted scriptsto this year’s Fabulous Four, but only four directors made the finalcut after being judged by the region’s most influential and respectedproducers and creative directors. The identities of the new directorswere kept anonymous from the jury members in the judging process.

 

About 2010’s Fabulous Four:

InBangkok, Pipat Siriruangsakul has a tremendous love for Asian culture,literature, photography, film, and music. He is an Assistant Directorat The Bandits production house in Bangkok.

Rahul Alindib Akbaris from Bangladesh. He began his career as an advertising creative, andwas a participant in Young Lotus 2007 and 2008 at ADFEST, where hediscovered his passion for film direction. 

In Tokyo, YasShimizu is an aspiring director who left for the USA at age 16 andenrolled in Film Studies at the University of Utah. Here, he worked forSundance Filmmaker’s lab as a production crew member and was devoted tomaking short films before moving to New York. In 2007 he moved back toTokyo and started working for Camp KAZ Productions, led by KazuyoshiHayakawa, one of the most respected commercial directors in Japan.

Sydney director Ant McPhail initially studied Photography and Designbefore majoring in Digital Production & Post Production. His videoart has been displayed at the Art Gallery of NSW
