Alex Shipley joins Leo Burnett Korea
Alex Shipley is joining Leo Burnett Korea as Vice President, Executive Creative Director. In his new role, Shipley will lead and work with a diverse creative team creating integrated campaigns for leading Korean and multinational clients.
Speaking about the appointment, Leo Burnett Korea’s President, Dong Wook Kim said,” Alex’s wealth of experience in the industry and more importantly, a solid understanding of Asia having spent more than 10 years living and working in this part of the world is invaluable. We are excited to have him on board with us, to enhance our commitment towards developing Humankind communications for our clients.”
This appointment marks a return to Leo Burnett for Shipley who was with the agency in Singapore 10 years ago. Shipley got his start as a copywriter with Ogilvy & Mather Direct (now Ogilvy One), when direct marketing was dismissed as a creative backwater. In his first year he took home gold, silver, bronze and honourable mention from the Direct Marketing Association’s International ECHO Awards. In the 22 years since, Shipley has worked with leading through-the-line agencies in Singapore, Canada and Vietnam, including Saatchi & Saatchi, Leo Burnett and Lowe, on blue-chip brands including McDonald’s, Unilever, P&G, Prudential, American Express, Electrolux and Nokia, and his work has won numerous international awards.
