Kinetic duo to chair Singapore Crowbar Awards

Pann Lim, Executive Creative Director and Jonathan Yuen, Creative Director (Interactive) from Kinetic Singapore will take the helm of Crowbar Awards 2011.

Lim has also been representing Kinetic as a judge at local and international award shows such as Kancil Awards, Clio, D&AD Awards, and more recently as Head of Design jury at the Singapore Creative Circle Awards last year. In the industry for 12 years, his passion for design and advertising not only shows in his dedication to his works but in his involvement at The Design Society, where he is tasked with inculcating the value of design to the young. Yuen’s works have been recognised and awarded in numerous regional and international award shows such as D&AD, Cannes, One Show, YoungGuns, The Art Directors Club and Spikes Asia, including winning the first and only Interactive Gong ever awarded at the Singapore Creative Circle Awards.

As strong advocates on grooming young talents, they believe that first step is to give the students an opportunity to be heard, get noticed and get connected. And the Crowbar Awards provides that very first step. In their words, “It’s their break into the highly competitive advertising and design industry as there are only a handful of good job openings a year. It’s a platform for them to showcase their talent, to pluck up their courage and be open to judgment from industry veterans as well as their peers.”

Having been on the jury panel before, they are no stranger to the Crowbar Awards. Started in 2001 as a local student’s creative show, the Crowbar Awards is an annual platform for emerging young creatives to showcase their best works. Their pairing sets precedence in having a multi-disciplinary chairmanship of the Crowbar Awards. With the growing versatility of young creatives of today, there couldn’t have been a better time. They will be complemented by a team of seasoned practitioners as heads of jury, which will be announced shortly.
