It took hours of hard work and tons of Happydent pellets to create this print campaign but like the copy says it gave everybody who saw it a million reasons to smile. Created by McCann Erickson India.

I normally am quite positive on this forum. But sorry, we have seen this hundreds of times… How many more campaigns will we see where charlie chaplan is illustrated with highlighters from text/ indian faces are made up of rolled up paper… etc etc… completely uninventive… completely easy formulaic. any judge that votes for these is an unseasoned out-of-touch neophyte. And I haven’t even mentioned the hi-jacking of iconic peoples for some crap you chew in your mouth.
Iconic people have been hijacked many times before to sell all sorts of items. It’s not necessarily wrong and these creatives have every right to also go down that road. It’s the idea that makes it great not the use of iconic people. I don’t think these are ‘great’ but I don’t mind this campaign as it’s better than a lot I have seen lately.
I couldn’t agree more.
This technique hasn’t just been used dozens of times before, it’s been used many a time by agencies from the same country – India. So it shows a complete lack of imagination for another agency from India to take this approach.
Juries should beware of such impostors who disguise themselves as innovators.
Just to demonstrate the weak connection of this campaign, just replace the crewing gums with the Blue Pills. Works as well.
So I say, WTF…stop this type of old trick guys. I’m tired on it.
Those who can, do. Those who can’t, comment.
CAN, do what? Rip off ads & get paid tons of money.
That’s something people with ethics CAN’T do.
3.46 – put your thumb over the logo in the bottom right hand corner of most cannes lion winners and the visual could be for any competitors product.
I agree with 1.30, these ads are better than most so good for McCann India for trying.
