Yubari City Project wins best of show for Beacon Japan at the Intercontinental Advertising Cup

Yubari.jpgBeacon Communications Tokyo. was awarded the prestigious 2010 Grand Cup at a gala awards ceremony in Istanbul last night, for its Yubari City Project 2009.  The campaign won also the Grande Lotus Roots at AdFest 2010.

 

Out of hundreds of entries from all over the world, only 28 CUP trophies were awarded this year of which Asia Pacific agencies won 10 trophies.

 

“Agencies in the Asia Pacific won the highest number of CUP trophies of any regional festival again this year, which proves that the richness of local Asian culture significantly enhances the quality and success of our advertising,” says Jimmy Lam, President of AdFest.

This week at AdFest in Phuket, Ravi Deshpande will present a Seminar titled ‘THE CUP 2010: Celebrating Genius Loci’ showcasing the winning works from other regions. The Seminar takes place on Thursday 17th March, 4.30pm. Deshpande is Chairman & Chief Creative Officer at Contract Advertising in Mumbai, and he was one of 11 executives sat on The CUP judging panel..

CUP trophies will be presented to the Asian winners at AdFest on Thursday:

–         Beacon Communications K.K., Tokyo (2 CUP Trophies + 1 GRAND CUP)

–         Dentsu Inc, Tokyo: (4 CUP trophies)                

–         Contract Advertising, Mumbai: (1 CUP trophy)

–         Leo Burnett / Arc Worldwide, Singapore: (1 CUP trophy)

–         RMG (JWT Group), Mumbai (1 CUP Trophy)

–         Taproot India: (1 CUP Trophy)

This is the second year a work from AdFest has won the GRAND CUP. Last year, GT Inc Japan won for its ‘Love Distance’ campaign for Sagami Original Condom.

The Intercontinental Advertising Cup was established in 2007 by the organizers of the world’s three biggest regional advertising festivals: AdFest, FIAP and Golden Drum, with ADC*E, Art Director’s Club of Europe as a participating member. Unlike any other global awards show, the CUP celebrates and preserves locally inspired creativity in a globalized world.
