TBWA\Vietnam featured in documentary

The Propeller Group, an art collaborative based in Los Angeles & Ho Chi Minh City, has enlisted TBWA\ Vietnam to be the subject in their latest documentary – TVC Communism.

The basis of the documentary follows TBWA during a brainstorming session where the creative agency discusses the concept of rebranding Communism. The documentary marks the first of its kind to ever cover the topic in this format. The film was shot entirely on location in Ho Chi Minh City over a 3-week period.

‘The main idea for the film is all about the creative process.’ ‘We wanted to capture a group of creative individuals to see how they would re-brand a delicate subject such as Communism.’ said Tuan Andrew Nguyen, director at the Propeller Group.

‘We approached TBWA with the idea because they have a unique point of view and their creative philosophy is unconventional. To us, they were the right people to be featured in this film.’ Tuan also said.

‘We’ve never been asked to do anything like this. It was definitely an unusual idea. The brainstorming process led to a lot of interesting discussions about the overall ideology.’ said Patrick Tom, executive creative director at TBWA\Vietnam.

The film is being debuted at the 3rd Singapore Biennale 2011. The Propeller Group was among the list of selected artists from 30 countries invited to showcase their work at the annual event. The 3rd Singapore Biennale is open until May 30 and is being held at the National Museum of Singapore, Singapore Art Museum, Old Kallang Airport and Marina Bay.
