Sylvester Song to JWT Hong Kong as ECD
JWT Hong Kong has hired Sylvester (Sly) Song as Executive Creative Director of the agency. Song isn’t a stranger to JWT Hong Kong, serving as Senior Art Director at the agency from 1996-1997. Now, Song returns to oversee and raise the creative standard of the agency. He will work closely with Dennis Wong and the management team to further heighten JWT Hong Kong’s operation integration across all disciplines.
Song joins JWT from Y&R Hong Kong where he was the Regional Creative Director on the Colgate team.
In addition to Y&R, the Malaysian born Song has worked at McCann Erickson, Ogilvy & Mather, Saatchi & Saatchi and Bates.
His 20 year career has taken him to Australia, Singapore and Hong Kong where he has created campaigns for some of the world’s biggest brands including: Coca-Cola, Nike, HSBC, Sony, Heineken, McDonald’s, Cathay Pacific, amongst others.
“What attracts me to JWT is that Dennis and I share the same vision – to create an agency culture where everyone is encourage to have fun, be creative and passionate about creating world-class work; ultimately, an agency where everyone wants to go to work for,” said Song. “JWT Hong Kong also has the right mixed of regional and local clients – all of whom have the potential of doing world-class, brand building work that is a great starting point for me to build on. I’m really looking forward to pushing the creative envelope with all of our clients, big and small.”
Song’s work has been recognized in local, regional and international award shows such as: Cannes, Clios, Mobius, Effies, New York Festival, London International Awards, AdFest, AWARD, Spikes and Kam Fan. He has served on the jury of the New York Festival and AdSTARS.
Among some of Sly’s biggest accolades include the 2007 Gunn Report ranking of Song’s Cathay Pacific 60th Anniversary campaign as the 12th Most Awarded Commercial in the World. In 2008, Song was named “Creative Professional of the Year” by Pearl & Dean/MTR.
On appointing Song, Dennis Wong said, “With his extensive international experience and more than 10 years tenure in Hong Kong, Sly brings with him the best of both worlds of global perspective and local insights. With Sly on board, we now have a strong and solid management structure in place that will further strengthen JWT Hong Kong’s integrated offerings and take the office into the future.”
