BBH.jpgBBH China braved the recent Typhoon Muifa to produce a topical spot for the World Gold Council that was released online across China this week.

Last Friday, Typhoon Muifa hit the east coast of China as predicted. Many outdoor events were cancelled and the general public was advised to stay indoors, dampening the spirits of many young couples gearing up for an eventful and romantic Chinese Valentine’s Day. BBH China Creative Director Yu Kung was inspired by this to write and direct a love story for the World Gold Council. The premise of the story revolves around the thought that love conquers all – even typhoons. With no time to prep, and all the difficulties of filming outdoor during a typhoon, BBH China braved the weather, filmed and produced this heart-warming film in just four days.

“When Typhoon Muifa was predicted to hit China on Valentine’s Day, we saw it as a crazy opportunity to make something topical. The idea of love conquering mother- nature was too good to miss. It was a tough task to pre-produce, shoot and complete the post at such short notice but thanks to a great team, we managed to pull it off.” Said Yu Kung, Creative Director of BBH China.

“This video works as a perfect tactical continuation to WGC’s online video campaign launched earlier this May. It further deepens the brand message and even better than that, we were able to react quickly enough to ride on the social media hype around Typhoon Muifa and Chinese Valentines’ Day.” Said Joanne Liu, Business Director of BBH China.

“We appreciate BBH team’s effort and their creative sense to use this topical opportunity to benefit the brand. We believe this video will strengthen our current “Allure of Gold” campaign, capturing at the heart of what gold represents – an important and cherished symbol of love,” said Roland Wang, Jewellery Director, World Gold Council China.
