Justin Lim adds more muscle to Blak Labs
Singapore micro-agency, Blak Labs, has beefed up its creative offering by appointing Justin Lim as Creative Partner. Lim is a veteran at Ogilvy & Mather for over a decade. His last post was Creative Director on the agency’s regional business across Asia Pacific.
“At Blak Labs, we place senior talents on our clients’ business so we can deliver superior creative thinking quickly,” says Charlie Blower, Managing Partner of Blak Labs. “Justin is a heavy-weight thinker with a strong creative reputation. He will make a huge impact on our clients and our team.”
Lim is highly awarded, having been recognized at D&AD, Cannes, Communication Arts, One Show, Creative Circle and Spikes. With this move, Lim reunites with former partner, Blak Labs co-founder, Koh Hwee Peng. Both Lim and Koh were inaugural creatives at Grey Singapore, where they grew the fledging start-up into one of the most successful shops in the country.
“I’ve spent the first part of my career working at big agencies, and even tried my hand at running one,” says Lim. “For the second act, I’m looking forward to doing something more entrepreneurial – and having some fun along the way!”
Established in November last year, Blak Labs is Singapore’s newest integrated creative agency that specializes in co-creation, collaboration and creative care.
Started by former Euro RSCG Singapore Managing Director Charlie Blower and Koh Hwee Peng, ex-Creative Director for Batey, Grey and JWT, Nick Tan, former Associate Creative Director at Grey and Elsa Peck, Senior Art Director, Grey, Blak Labs has quickly attracted new business from Maybank, Fuji Xerox, Coca-Cola, NParks and several other undisclosed clients.

Really Grey is one of the most successful shops in the country?
dear JOKES – justin and greg used to be singapores most “successful” creatives in 1999 – 2001 and inspired some of singapores greats today, true benchmark setters for singapore.
恭喜 Justin. I’m sure you’ll go great guns.
dear charlie blower and hwee peng,
several undisclosed clients? why undisclosed? can’t understand…is this the way agencies operate nowadays? please enlighten us on this approach. thanks!
Happy for you Justin. The Blak Lab guys are just getting warmed up.
It would blow ( no pun intended) your newbie mind if you knew who these clients are.
This shop believes in making the client successful.
Not making themselves famous.
That’s the way a responsible agency operates.
Good luck Justin, Charlie & Hwee.
Kick ass out there.
Agency newbie, the clients remain undisclosed for a couple of reasons.
They have other agencies in place which they don’t want to upset.
They prefer their projects to remain undisclosed due to market sensitivity.
Since we owe it to our clients to respect their wishes, we do so.
Simple really.
Charlie
> You can’t handle the truth,
Thank you for your good wishes.
And your appreciation of our offer.
As for kicking ass, we fully intend to give it our best shot.
cheers,
Charlie
