Cheil Singapore hire Vijay Anand as CD
After two years as Proximity Malaysia CD, Vijay Anand is heading over to be the CD of Cheil Worldwide in Singapore.
Anand started off his career 13 years ago in digital before moving on to work on ATL with Euro RSCG, TBWA and Ogilvy KL. Anand then moved to Bangkok to try out activation with Riverorchid Thailand as the Head of Art before retiurning back to digital with Proximity Malaysia.
BBDO Proximity Malaysia ECD, Richmond Walker said Anand has been with them for more than two years, and in that time they have seen a great creative thinker emerge into a great creative leader.
“He has been a rock for us, and he deserves every opportunity that comes his way. It is always good to see one of our own making waves in the industry, even if it means saying goodbye. We wish him all the best, and will be expecting big things,” said Walker.
Anand said he was sad to be leaving the agency as its been a great experience for him.
“We’ve done some really cool integrated work. From the Dulux Paintbank To Snickers Hungerlings Attack to Hotlink’s Now you can – Bloggers without borders. We were also the guys who conceived the idea for Yuna’s people powered concert. It’s definitely an agency where a hybrid creative like me would enjoy to work in,” said Anand.
“But it’s not also about the work, the people around me like Richmond, Jennifer Chan, Michelle, Chris Thomas, Richard Frasier, Danny Searle were amazing. The chance of meeting World Class creatives at BBDO University – Paris and the chance of working with Malaysian legends like Ronald Ng, Mun and being trained by gurus like Mark Goldstein, Duncan Gray is something that I will treasure always.
“But an opportunity like the one at Cheil Worldwide in Singapore doesn’t come that often. The agency is making waves in the industry, the recent Cheil Korea’s Grand Prix win at Cannes with the Tesco work is proof that it’s becoming a force to reckoned with. Being a person who lives and breathes digital, the chance to work with a technology giant like Samsung is something I really look forward to. Together with the team there, we plan to push boundaries not only on the digital space but we’re looking at pushing the envelope on all mediums. We want to not only unlock the potential of digital and social media but to push it to its limits.”
