DDB Shanghai and Tribal DDB Shanghai come out on top in the China Effie Awards rankings
DDB Shanghai has been ranked as the number one Most Effective Agency Office, while Tribal DDB Shanghai was ranked number one Digital Agency in China based on the results from 2011 China Effie Awards.
The awards were presented on Friday night at the 2011 China Effie Effectiveness Index dinner in Beijing. This is the first year the China Effie Effectiveness Index has been officially revealed and a first for China’s marketing & communication Industry to set a benchmark for effective creativity.
Launched in June 2011, the Index has been complied by Effie Worldwide in partnership with Warc, the global marketing intelligence service. Global results of the Effie Effectiveness Index were released on June 19, 2012 and DDB China Group takes the top spot as number one most effective agency office also for the Greater China Region (China, Hong Kong and Taiwan). This follows the recent triumphant wins of DDB China Group’s Silver Lion at Cannes 2012 for “The Keyboard of Isolation” and DDB Group Hong Kong’s top honors being awarded Marketing’s Creative Agency of the Year at Marketing’s Agency of the Year 2012 award and clinching a Grand Effie, a Gold Effie, two Silver Effies and five Bronze Effies at Hong Kong Effies 2012 Award show in June 2012.

Proof that Effies don’t always = creativity. Sorry, but the “real” work coming out of there is atrocious. Look at Shanghai Volkswagen work – hello 1990s advertising.
You’d have to track down the clients whose work won the Effies, and ask them how creative the work was. They wouldn’t understand the question, because all we get paid for is results, in this industry. Or we should give clients their money back.
