OgilvyOne Beijing ECD Doug Schiff takes on expanded national China responsibilities
OgilvyOne China has announced two senior promotions as ECD Doug Schiff (pictured left) sees his role expanded to include national responsibility for all OgilvyOne creative work and talent management in China, while Gao Yan takes on the national role of Vice President of Operations China.
With over 7 years at Ogilvy China, Schiff has contributed in a variety of ways to the output of some of the offices’ best creative, including the winning of China’s first D&AD Yellow Pencil in 2008, China’s first International Echo in 2010 and leading OgilvyOne to be Greater China’s Digital Agency of the Year in 2011.
His supervision of the consistently strong work on IBM and that of other Beijing clients has led to this expanded role, in which Schiff will manage and mentor all OgilvyOne creative teams in China, and oversee all creative work, as well as training and talent development.
Gao (pictured left) embarked on her Ogilvy & Mather journey 19 years ago as a media planner. This was followed by stints as Marketing Manager of a dotcom and running her own ad agency. She later rejoined O&M and held various account servicing roles including Client Service Director, OgilvyOne Beijing.
Prior to this promotion, she served as Head of Operations, OgilvyOne Beijing for the past year.
In her new national role, Gao will continue to streamline internal operations and management systems, strengthen integration between offices, oversee training and career development initiatives and help drive new business growth and market expansion.
Angel Chen, President of OgilvyOne China, said, “These promotions and the recent return of Billboard Kwok as VP of E-Commerce show that we are working hard to build a best-in-class management team that not only has strategic vision but also superior execution capabilities. Doug and Gao Yan are passionate, dedicated, innovative leaders that are beloved by our colleagues and clients so there’s no limit to what we can achieve with this strong group at the helm.”

Dude, you deserved this. Congrats and beer soon!
Doug is a solid dude. Met him once in Beijing by accident. He does the real work and is such a nice man. This is exactly the kind of guy Ogilvy Singapore needs now obviously.
