21st annual international Cresta Awards call for entries now open – deadline Friday 8 March 2013
NEW YORK – The Cresta Awards, which honor an absolute standard of creative excellence in international advertising and marketing communications since 1993, has issued the call for entries in its 21st worldwide competition.
The deadline for entries is Friday 8 March 2013. All work must be submitted online here. The entry fee for single items is $375/each. The entry fee for campaigns consisting of a series of ads for the same product or service is $195/item. Integrated Campaigns has a flat fee of $650.
All entries will be screened by several worldwide juries, who will compile a short-list of finalists that will be submitted to an International Grand Jury of expert creative directors, film specialists and graphic artists. Short-listed interactive entries will be judged by a separate Grand Jury of interactive experts. Work will be judged on originality of the creative idea and quality of its execution (except in the Crafts & Design competitions where only executional quality is taken into consideration).
Creative Standards International, the Cresta Awards has also announced its 2013 Jury President, Guido Heffels (left), chief creative officer & co-founder, HEIMAT, Berlin.
Heffels founded HEIMAT in 1999, and is a well-known creative force who has served on many international juries. In the second year of the HEIMAT’s existence, the agency was named Newcomer Agency of the Year. HEIMAT, Berlin, took fifth place in the national and twenty-first in the worldwide Creative Ranking in 2009. In addition, the three founding members of HEIMAT, Berlin, were selected as Advertisers of the Year by the trade magazine Horizont. Like any other creative head in Germany, Guido has received more than 1,000 national and international awards.
Says Heffels: “Sorry, you won’t win anything here for “Best use of white socks in tvc under 20 seconds” (Don’t even think about it, Cresta!). You even won’t be pleased with silvers or bronzes here. Yes indeed, it will be a tough judging procedure. Time consuming, but by far more important, percolating the entries means an extremely fair and unbiased process. Reaching the comparatively extremely limited shortlist should make any creative proud (Maybe some of us have unlearned this). Winners should immediately ask for a boost in pay. None of the worldwide acknowledged jury members has the tendency to be generous, it’s their name that is connected to the results. They are aware of the real meaning of CRESTA: Creative Standards. I feel honored being part it”.
Of the seven Grand Prix which were awarded in 2012, taking the honors in the TV/Cinema/Online Film competition was BETC, Paris for its “Bear” TV spot for Canal+. “Bear” also won the Grand Prix in the Crafts competition for Best Direction. The Direct Marketing and Design (Best Publication Design) Grand Prix’s were presented to Serviceplan, Munich for their Annual Report for client, Verband Austria Solar. The Ambient Media Grand Prix was received by BBDO Proximity, Berlin for their client, smart fortwo, titled, “smart EBALL”. The Press Grand Prix was won by Arnold Worldwide, Boston for its campaign submission for client, City Hope, titled, “Hope”, “Apathy”, “Mentor”.
