HK4As Effie Awards – effective ideas that sell
The 2013 HK4As Effie Awards, organized annually by the Association of Accredited Advertising Agencies of Hong Kong, has received enthusiastic response from the advertising industry since its official call for entry. Up to the deadline for submissions, 79 entries have been received, which is a record-breaking success in the history of Hong Kong Effie.
This year’s theme, guided by the Global Effie Headquarters, calls for “Innovative, Effective & Ideas that sell”. Participants are required to submit briefs on works with outstanding innovation as well as proven market effectiveness supported by statistics.
Desmond Chan, co-Chairman of the 2013 HK4As Effie Awards, stated: “Different from other advertising award shows, Effie encourages agencies or clients to put emphasis not only on creativity but on effectiveness. Effective advertising should be advertising that delivers business results, and the entry number this year has already proven that Effie itself sells.”
Lei Wang, another Co-Chairman of this year’s Effie, also added, “The Effie Awards were first introduced in New York as a global award, the HK4As is proud to host its Hong Kong chapter for the 10th year with encouraging results in the number of participants and growing recognition from Clients & Agencies each year.”
This year the judging panel reflects a cross section of the industry reflecting the essential Effie components in the Awards from sectors in creative, research, academic, media, and marketing expertise. The Judges include:
1. Rupam Borthakur, Managing Director – Hong Kong & Taiwan of Millward Brown
2. Timothy Chow, VP & General Manager of Cerebos Hong Kong & Brand’s Export Markets
3. Kevin Huang, CEO of Pixel Media
4. Spencer Lee, Head of Marketing of Ferrero Asia Ltd
5. Michelle Leung, Head of eBay Hong Kong Marketplace
6. Willde Ng, Director of thinkingwithoutthinking
7. Eric Tan, Senior Client Service Director of TNS Hong Kong Ltd.
8. Yiu Man To -Senior Teaching Fellow, HK Polytechnic University.
The judging date of 2013 Effie Award will be on 25 April, with the official announcement of the winners at a Gala ceremony on 30 May in JW Marriott.
