Sony Wong, OMG and Jimmy Lim, Dentsu to co-chair Singapore Media Awards in its 9th year
The Singapore Media Awards, now in its ninth year, have announced two leading Media professionals as its Co-Chairs, heading its line-up of Jury Heads and Jurors.
According to Connie Chan, first-time-ever Lady President of the Association of Accredited Advertising Agents, Singapore and Managing Director of MEC, “The appointment of two Co-Chairs reflects the growth of the Singapore Media Awards in both stature and size, and the Singapore 4As welcomes all the support the industry can muster to ensure that the quality and integrity of these awards continues at its high level, reflecting the increasing number of international and local players in the local and regional media scene, as well as the addition of new media services in this part of the world.”
With the changing pace and face of media globally as well as locally, the SMA, as it is affectionately called in the Media Industry, has increasing interest shown not only by Media Agencies, but also Media owners and Advertisers over the past three years.

Wong started his career as a brand marketer with several blue-chip MNCs, including Unilever & a double stint with Asia Pacific Breweries. He also took on a regional marketing role in Burger King Asia Pacific & subsequently seconded to be the General Manager of Burger King in Singapore.
After 15 years on the client side, Wong made a mid-career switch & his first foray into the media agency world started with Carat Media, as their Managing Director. He then moved to head up Maxus & Mindshare in Singapore pore, and currently, CEO of Omnicom Media Group, which he oversees the operation for OMD, phd and m2m locally.

Lim has 19 years of advertising and media experience across South East Asia, starting his career with Leo Burnett, before moving on to Peter Beaumont S.E.A, Saatchi & Saatchi, Leo Burnett S.E.A and Dentsu.
Lim joined Dentsu in May 2012 as part of the network’s most ambitious global expansion – the formation of Dentsu Network combining the majority of Dentsu overseas operations under a single management team in New York, culminating in the merger with Aegis Media, to form the new Dentsu Aegis Network.
Prior to Dentsu, he spent 4 years with Mindshare Singapore as Executive Director and Head of Invention, leading the agency to its best award-winning years – winning the coveted ‘Campaign Asia’ South East Asia’s Media Agency of the Year 2011, and South East Asia’s Top 3 Digital Agency of the Year 2011.
Other agency awards include Marketing AOTY Media Agency of the Year for 2009 and 2010, the Overall Agency of the Year in 2010. Other media awards followed at the Singapore Media Awards, Hall of Fame, SPH Ink Awards and the MARKies, including Best Media Agency at the Singapore Media Awards for 2 years running in 2010 and 2011.
