Huawei presents an online short film from Adnewsun in collaboration with Goodstein
Huawei kicks off the Mobile Phone World Congress in Barcelona with their innovative new X1 Mediapad and ‘Mary Day’, a 5 minute online short film that promotes the new phone-meets-tablet in a quirky creative by Adnewsun Guangzhou, written and directed by Goodstein and produced by GJ Bleechmore at Contra. The film, entirely shot on location in Barcelona, embeds the functions of the phone in the narrative rather than highlighting the typical feature-rich jargon.
Amy Lou, Director of Global Brand Management said, ‘This film builds on our efforts to be perceived as international, premium and sophisticated.’ ‘We are looking forward to further cooperation on branded entertainment projects with the creators of Mary Day’, adds Ivan Lu, Head of Advertising of Huawei Consumer BG.
Carrie Tan, General Manager and Music Zhang, Executive Creative Director of Adewsun said on their collaboration with Goodstein, ‘We were looking for a partner that understands the needs of our Chinese clients while providing the sensibility of the Western markets and were proud to work together with the team around GJ Bleechmore and Director Georg Warga, from Goodstein’.
‘We only had 4 weeks from start to finish, including scriptwriting. This is only possible if you have a client that fully trusts the abilities of production and director’ says Bleechmore. For Georg Warga this project marks a departure from his traditional role as a creative director. ‘We hope this will be a blueprint for future collaborations with Adnewsun and Huawei to bring their innovation to the rest of the world.’
