Samsung releases ‘another me’ mobile app based on the true story of separated identical twins
Cheil Worldwide Korea has released “Another Me – Mobile Teaser” a new Samsung two-minute, split-screen mobile spot by John Park, a director recently added to the roster of Nonfiction Unlimited.
Based in Seoul, South Korea, Park is best known as the helmer behind the Cannes Lion Winner Mr. Pizza. The True Origins of Pizza faux documentary.
“Another Me” tells the true story of Samantha Futerman from L.A. and Anais Bordier in Paris, identical twins separated at birth who rediscover one another through social media.
Last month, a three-minute version of the spot appeared online targeting the global market promoting Samsung’s latest wearable devices, the Gear 2, Gear Fit and Galaxy, which help real people stay connected anytime, anywhere.
As part of the campaign, Samsung created an app that allows users to view two different mobile teasers, one telling Anais’ story, the other Samantha’s. By syncing with someone else’s phone, the full teaser can be watched on both devices side-by-side. Each part of the teaser has its own soundtrack, and once the phones are synced the images and tracks complement one another, creating a new musical score. The app also allows users to create two-sided movies like Samantha’s and Anais’ film, to “celebrate togetherness.”
