9 entries from Asia make the cut at the shortlist stage in the Cannes Lions Mobile category

Guardian Angel.jpgIntroduced in 2012, the mobile category rewards the best creative work which lives on or is activated by a mobile device, app or mobile web. The judging criteria is based on creativity and the idea, execution, relevance to the mobile platform and results (level of user engagement and any quantifiable outcomes).

Singapore leads the charge with 4 shortlists in the Mobile category, followed by Thailand with two and Japan, India and The Philippines with one shortlist each.

JWT Singapore has two shortlists both for ‘The Guardian Angel’ (pictured) for the Association of Women for Action and Research (AWARE), for their personal safety accessory line.

DDB Group Singapore were shortlisted for ‘Offline Book’ for Math Paper Press and Ogilvy & Mather Singapore for Singtel’s ‘Movie Emoji’.

Blood of Hope.jpgIn Thailand CJWORK Bangkok were shortlisted for ‘Blood of Hope’ for mobile network Advanced Info Service.

BBDO Proximity Thailand for ‘Hairtagproject’ for The Lounge Hair Salon.

Bascule Tokyo are shortlisted for ‘Bloody Tube’ for Bascule Inc.

Lowe & Partners India has one shortlist for ‘The Kan-Khajura Station’ for Unilever India for their ‘free mobile radio’ providing users access to entertainment content.

BBDO Guerrero also have one shortlist for ‘Unselfie’ for the Typhoon Yolanda Appeal.

A total of 1187 entries from 49 countries were submitted into the Mobile category this year. Jaime Robinson, Executive Creative Director, Pereira & O’Dell is this year’s jury president and on the jury from Asia is Vineet Gupta (22Feet Tribal Worldwide India), Qanta Shimizu (Party Tokyo) and Syngwook Park (Hancomm South Korea).

Japan entered 48 entries into Mobile, China entered 34 and India 24 entries.
