AdStars list of judges includes Jean-Remy von Matt, Matt Eastwood, Jose Miguel Sokoloff, Merlee Cruz-Jayme and Suthisak Sucharittanonta
The AdStars Organizing Committee has announced a list of thirty-four final round judges from twenty-five countries.
The list contains some of the top brass in the advertising scene who are not very likely to be present at the same place, even at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity or the New York Festivals.
One of the most notable is Jean-Remy von Matt, the founder and Chief Creative Officer of Jung von Matt AG. Under his direction, the company is recognized as one of the most successful agencies across the globe, earning the top spot in the Art Directors Club of Europe Awards no less than twelve times.
Also noteworthy is Matt Eastwood, praised as a “unicorn” in the communications industry. Being the Worldwide Chief Creative Officer of J. Walter Thompson, one of the world’s largest agency networks, he has been directing some of the most innovative and distinguished projects, including the KitKat advertisement for Super Bowl, latched on to what is known as BendGate of iPhone 6.
Aslo joining the executive judges is President of Mullen Lowe Group Global Creative Council Jose Miguel Sokoloff, who was the first Latin American to win a Titanium Cannes Lion in 2012, for Operation Christmas, a campaign staged to encourage armed guerrillas to demobilize in Colombia, a country plagued by civil war for half a century.
Prominent judges from Asia include DM9 Jayme Syfu Chairman Merlee Cruz-Jayme and BBDO Proximity Thailand Chairman Suthisak Sucharittanonta. These two also share some history with AdStars. Jayme visited Busan as the heroine of “Smart TXTBKS”, which won a Grand Prix of the Year in AdStars 2013. Sucharittanonta, reputed as one of the most creative minds in Asia, was also scheduled to come to Busan as a chief judge in 2010 but did not make it due to some personal reasons, making this year’s participation more significant.
The Organizing Committee expects these winners of prestigious awards, working as executive judges this year, to greatly help select the best advertising works from five continents.
The shortlisting for AdStars 2015 will be carried out in a total of twenty-two categories for the AdStars and the Video Stars awards, producing some 300 winners out of 17,698 entries.
AdStars 2015 will be held in Busan for three days from Thursday, 20 August through Saturday, 22 August.
