Tourism Authority of Thailand tattoos tourists
At an international tourism expo, the competition to draw tourist’s attentions is extremely high. No efforts are spared to try and get the attention of potential tourists. Yet, the most effective communication tool is still a ‘flyer’. Hence, Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) wanted to make their Thai tourism flyer stand out, one flyer that is so memorable that it cannot be easily forgotten.
To create something that truly stands heads and shoulders above a sea of flyers at the CITM Shanghai Expo, Leo Burnett Thailand changed the format of TAT’s tourism flyer to a series of tattoo designs. With any smartphone, the tattoos could be scanned that redirected the user to series of videos that contained different stories promoting Thailand.
With a cost of US $0.25 a piece, the tattoo flyers was one of the key drivers that contributed to the highest-ever number of Chinese tourists visiting Thailand (an increase of 42%) following the CITM Shanghai Expo. The debut of the Tattoo Flyers was so successful, TAT has now decided to bring them to other tourism expos around the world.
