Cannes Contenders: Mirum Hong Kong

How will Asia Pacific perform at Cannes this year? In the lead up to the Festival, Campaign Brief Asia will be showcasing the work we hope will impress the judges…

Mirum Hong Kong

High-end Chinese jeweller Chow Sang Sang have an inventory of over a thousand necklaces and needed a solution that would make it easier for shoppers to try everything they wanted. With shoppers aged under 35 soon to account for over 53% of the region’s luxury shoppers, the solution had to be digital.

Mirum Hong Kong created a real mirror with interactive capabilities, bringing a completely new dimension to brick and mortar retail. Unlike existing screen based experiences, this is the first truly mirror-based retail technology with its reflectance of 75% putting it on par with non-virtual mirrors. The mirror detects the shopper’s position and places a virtual necklace around their neck. The necklace moves in sync with the user and they can capture the moment to share instantly on social media. Once they’ve found their chosen necklace, they can immediately order it direct from the mirror.

The Magic Mirror was rolled out in Hong Kong stores and embarked on a roadshow through China’s busiest malls attracting thousands of new and young shoppers across the region.
