Rules Creative Taipei creates ‘deviate office parties’ campaign to raise awareness of spinal cord injury sufferers in the work place
Rules Creative, an independent digital agency based in Taipei, has created “Deviate Office Parties” to raise public awareness of New Life Information Services.
The career training opportunity for spinal cord injury sufferers in Taiwan has been increasing in recent years, however, job opportunities remain scarce for those receiving training. The reasons are tied to extreme lack of a barrier free environment in most enterprise facilities and the social stereotype towards “inability and low-productivity” for those SCI sufferers in wheelchairs, which has made enterprises reluctant to recruit.

New Life Information Services Co. Ltd is a social enterprise with accessible space and helps SCI sufferers to work on socially productive tasks.
Furthermore, for companies that do not hire sufficient qualified individuals with disabilities to meet regulation requirements, NLIS provides custom employment management services to co-locate these employees at NLIS disability friendly facilities to help companies fulfill their legal duty.
NLIS does not accept financial donations, they aim to improve SCI sufferers’ living quality and ability for independent life with self-confidence and dignity.
Rules Creative and NLIS have released a series of funny ironic pictures about employment discrimination, trying to link these workers’ experiences with the discrimination of SCI sufferers, and tell people “If you can endure your lazy boss, dysfunctional co-workers or even picky clients, why not accept a professional SCI sufferer as your partner?”.
SCI workers lack for nothing but an opportunity to prove themselves, asking middle-class workers and business leaders to pay attention to employment issues of SCI sufferers.
