JKD Collective wraps up Tokyo with digital ribbons for shu uemura’s holiday collection
JKD Collective Tokyo has produced a new branded movie titled “tokyo wrapping” for the launch of shu uemura’s holiday collection, featuring artworks by Takashi Murakami.
Takashi Murakami’s iconic flower represents love, hope, peace, and the pulse of poetry and magic in this world. shu uemura has teamed up with the Japanese contemporary artist to create a Holiday 2016 makeup collection that captures the magical side of Christmas. The branded movie captures the magic and warmth of the holiday and features the flower motifs in bright colors that illuminate the city of Tokyo. The concept of the movie is “tokyo wrapping.” It is a story of a female figure and a sphere shaped drone character that flies freely around Tokyo after dark to wrap the city with digital ribbons. Murakami himself did a cameo in the movie.
The digital ribbons were shot using a technique called light painting and a tool called Pixelstick. The athletic dancers perform while while holding the Pixelstick to leave the beautiful trail of lights, resulting the glowing colorful ribbon to wrap the city of Tokyo dynamically and gracefully.
