An Indian shoe company decided to give Wenger the boot before he announced his resignation

On 20th of April, Arsene Wenger announced his resignation to the world. A decision much awaited by many under #WengerOut. But a lesser known fact is that 5 days earlier, The Shoe Factory had already decided to give Wenger the boot. And ran a digital campaign to get people to participate in this decision.
The Shoe Factory is a company that specialises in handcrafted shoes. And in this age of online shopping, their reliance on offline engagement had alienated them from a potentially large audience.
So The Shoe Factory decided to start a conversation with them by entering a conversation that they were already engaged in.#WengerOut. Probably the most active hash tag in football.
It started with a video that showed up on many Indian football sites and on the pages of various influencers, right after the Arsenal loss to Newcastle. And then was followed up with memes that used #WengerOut in a cheeky manner.
And while the campaign was eliciting laughs and trolling of Arsenal fans in India, no one expected the campaign to take the turn that it did 5 days later.
But as promised the company shall be soon sending the winning pair to Mr. Wenger. So that he can walk out with the boot that everyone wanted to give him.
