Cannes Contenders: Grey Group Japan
How will Asia Pacific perform at Cannes this year? In the lead up to the Festival, Campaign Brief Asia will be showcasing the work we hope will impress the judges…
Grey Group Japan
Japanese people have traditionally nurtured deep passion and respect for KOGEI (handicrafts). Countless traditional crafts that are unbelievably intricate and uniquely creative exist around Japan. However, the younger generation holds less interest in this traditional arts and crafts. There is a need now to raise the interest of young people for traditional crafts and for it to be passed on to the next generation. Japan’s leading toy manufacturer, TAKARA TOMY, has been dedicated in creating “The Craft Train” in trying to do just that.
To inspire the creativity of children, they have experimented by displaying creativity with the concept of “the value our hands could create” in Lacquer Art, Kyoto Bamboo Art, Hakone Wooden Mosaic and Edo Kiriko.
