John Koay and Matt Nisbet promoted to joint executive creative directors at Ogilvy Hong Kong
Campaign Brief Asia hears Ogilvy Hong Kong creative directors Matt Nisbet and John Koay have been promoted to executive creative directors at the agency.
The move follows Reed Collins’ recent elevation from chief creative officer of the Hong Kong agency to a North Asia chief creative officer region role in February this year.
Nisbet (on right) has pent the past 12 years at Ogilvy Hong Kong, starting his career at OgilvyOne. He has launched and overseen CRM programs for major brands around the region including Shangri-La, American Express and IBM.
Creative highlights of his career at Ogilvy include launching the world’s largest casino, entering a pink dolphin into a beauty pageant, patenting a pizza box projector, giving the world fried chicken flavoured nail polish and co-inventing an emergency comms system.
Koay (on left) started his career in New Zealand as an art director before moving to Sydney where he worked at JWT Sydney and The Campaign Palace with Collins. He followed Collins to Ogilvy Hong Kong as Creative Director & Business Partner overlooking the creative and business output for the agency’s key clients as well as developing internal staff.
Koay and Nisbet are multi-award winners having won at One Show, Clio, Asia Spikes, Adfest, Effies, London International Awards, The Webby Awards and the Hong Kong Kam Fan Awards. At the recent 2018 Cannes Lions in June their “Hot & Spicy” KFC campaign was the Festival’s biggest award winner, bringing back to Hong Kong 5 Gold Lions and 2 Silver Lions.
Official news on the promotions will be announced next week.
