26th Annual Cresta International Advertising Awards finalists: Asia has 8, 4 from Thailand, 3 from Japan and one from The Philippines

Verena Sure.jpgClean light hand soap.jpgThe Cresta Awards, launched in 1993 by Creative Standards International to honor an absolute standard of creative excellence in advertising and marketing communications, announced the finalists in its 26th annual worldwide competition.

Asia has scored 8 finalists 4 from Thailand, 3 from Japan and one from The Philippines. Thailand’s four finalists are from IPG Advertising Bangkok for Sure “Capture” (Online Film), Sure “Capture” (Craft Online Film – Humor) and Sure “Capture” (Branded Entertainment) and Denstu One, Bangkok for  Zantiis “Clean Light Hand Soap” (Ambient Media). Japan’s finalists are Kakezan Inc., Chuo-ku for NTT DoCoMo “YOYOGI CANDLE 2020” (Outdoor), McCann, Tokyo for Fuji Xerox Co., Ltd. “Creative Flow_er” (Ambient Media) and SUN-AD Company Limited, Tokyo for NTT Docomo “Enjoy School Days!” (Craft Online Film – Art Direction). Dentsu Jayme Syfu, Makati City is a finalist for Greenpeace Philippines “Dead Whale” (Outdoor).

Dead Whale_new.jpgThe Cresta Awards cover TWELVE major competitions: TV/Cinema/Online Film, Integrated Campaigns, Press, Outdoor, Ambient Media, Direct Marketing, Radio, Design, Promotions & Incentives, Branded Entertainment, Crafts and Interactive. Work is judged on the basis of two criteria only: the originality of the creative idea and the quality of its execution. A Grand Prix will be awarded to the highest scoring entries that achieve a pre-determined standard (above a ‘set’ score). 

 

McCann, New York scored the top of the short list with a total of forty eight finalists. Spread across almost all the competitions, McCann attained finalist status for the following clients:  Qualcomm (“Bavarian Dance/BeatBox”), Nespresso (“Comin’ Home”), Cigna (“TV Doctors 2/Even More Drama”), Verizon (“Answering the Call/First Responders First”), Mucinex (“#SuperSickMonday”), New York Lottery (“Medieval/Small Town/Bodega Cat/UFO”), National Geographic (“Astronaut Reality Helmet”), Microsoft (“See What’s Next”), MGM Resorts International (“Universal Love”), March for Our Lives (“Price on our Lives”), Chick Fil A (“Rivalry Restaurants”) and Lysol (Protect like a Mother”).

 

HEIMAT, Berlin received nine finalists. Their client Hornbach, titled, “Sweat it Out” received 4 finalists; Swisscom, titled, “#SnowDrawings” received 2 and Free Democrats, titled, “Dark Diaries” received 3.

 

Serviceplan/Plan.Net, Munich secured six finalists.  Their client Audi A5 Sportback, titled, “Wind” received 2 finalists, The Strellson, titled, “Like Shop” received 2 finalists and Adoptify received 2.

 

Entrants with five finalists are: BBDO, New York for Bacardi, Downtown Records, GE and Pedigree; BETC, Paris for Lacoste, Petit Bateau and evian; Commonweath//McCann, Detroit for Chevrolet; HUMANSEVEN, Paris for Acadomia, Transavia Airlines, French Federation of Cardiology and Citroën; McCann XBC, New York for MasterCard, and Überground, Hamburg for Tipp 24 Online Lottery and Audi On Demand Mobility Service.

 

From the 51 countries participating in this year’s awards, 22 achieved finalist status.  A total of 177 ads, campaigns and Interactive entries (see attachment) were chosen by the Cresta Grand Jury consisting of 81 top creatives.  This jury also selected the winners and was chaired by Gigi Lee, Chief Creative Officer, TBWA\Group Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur. ‘Winners’ will be announced on Monday, Oct. 15th.
