The MCI and Tribal Worldwide Singapore celebrate ‘The Best in Us’ one year after Singapore’s first COVID-19 case
To mark one year since Singapore’s first COVID-19 case, the Ministry of Communications and Information (MCI) launched a reflective video together with Tribal Worldwide Singapore, to look back on how far we have come and how Singaporeans have overcome the challenges of the pandemic with the support of the government.
Titled ‘The Best in Us’, the two-minute film is a testament to the indomitable spirit of our nation and its people. It highlights how the five Budgets in 2020 and $100 billion in support measures have helped Singaporeans from all walks of life including families, students, workers, seniors and businesses have adapted and overcome, and emerged stronger from the crisis.
“Lives and livelihoods have been disrupted over the past year, but the adversity has also brought out the best in us. This film reminds us of the values that have taken us this far adaptability, tenacity and appreciating life’s little moments. While COVID-19 still rages on, we can be proud of what we have achieved together even as we continue to be vigilant and resilient,” says Soffy Hariyanti, Director, Campaigns and Production Department of MCI’s Public Communications Division.
The film uses cinema-graphs to portray scenes of Singapore in the earlier phases of the pandemic, to convey how time seemed to have come to a standstill during the Circuit Breaker period. It transitions into live-action footage to symbolise how Singaporeans’ resilience and adaptability allowed us to move forward, despite the difficult circumstances.
Benson Toh, Executive Creative Director at Tribal Worldwide Singapore, said: “This campaign is particularly meaningful to us as we have been working closely with MCI over the past year on COVID-19 campaigns. We hope Singaporeans can take heart from the video and continue to stand strong no matter the challenges.”
