Amanda Chen and Andrew Au join Uniplan’s Global Board team

Uniplan, a global leading agency for brand experience has extended its board team. Amanda Chen returns as CFO and Andrew Au, another internationally experienced agency executive, will join as CSO. Chen will oversee global finances out of the Shanghai office and Au will be based out of Beijing. As of March 1, 2022, both have joined the Global Board together with Christian Zimmermann (Chairman & Group CEO), Melanie Mucha (Chief HR Officer), Rüdiger Maeßen (CEO Europe) and Todd Nash (CIO).

Chen (pictured right) is not new to Uniplan. She had previously worked for the agency in Shanghai from 2010 to 2021 in various finance positions, most recently as CFO and with responsibility for the whole group. Prior to that, she had worked for various companies in China since 2000, including PSA, EPCOS and Texas Instruments. Chen had temporarily left Uniplan to co-found the digital platform Freemall and secure its angel round funding from investors. Chen will lead a global team of regional finance and compliance directors and will report to the company owner and Group CEO Christian Zimmermann.

With Au (pictured left) joining, Uniplan brings a proven international consultant to the agency. Au has more than 20 years of experience in marketing, experience design and creative tech. He is a regular speaker, awards judge and serves as Vice-Chair of the Marketing Society Southeast Asia board. Originally from Canada with family roots in Hong Kong, Au joins from Wander Consult, a growth and advisory consultancy focusing on the media, agency and metaverse/Web3 sectors. Au also previously held various leadership positions in Asia at Eight Inc., Imagination and Fluid, among others. Prior to that, he spent many years in regional marketing for The Economist Group and Fortune. In his new role as CSO, Au will also report directly to Christian Zimmermann, where he will be largely responsible for further business expansion and strategic customer consulting on an international level.

“I am very happy to have Amanda Chen back at our side. I am also very pleased that we have been able to win an internationally recognized top manager like Andrew Au as Chief Strategy Officer for Uniplan,” said a delighted Christian Zimmermann, Chairman & Group CEO. “Andrew will further enhance our consulting capabilities across all locations, with a particular focus on our business in Asia. Transformation brings with it cultural and organizational changes. So it’s good to have someone with Andrew’s experience on board.”

“Uniplan has already embarked on the journey from an implementation-strong agency to a holistic consulting firm for brand experience. I was particularly impressed by the absolute will to transform – both in terms of content and technology – and of course the international focus with an emphasis on Asia,” comments Andrew Au on his move. “I look forward to helping shape Uniplan’s fortunes in the future.”
